Hocus Pocus
Since its release in 1993, Hocus Pocus has quickly become the most popular Halloween movie in the world. It is entertaining to watch, not too frightening, and suitable for the whole family. The story revolves around three sisters who are witches and dwell in the town of Salem. When they are resurrected, they are able to return to life hundreds of years after their death. The young protagonists are assisted by an immortal black cat in their efforts to destroy the town of the witches once and for all, saving everyone in the process.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
If you turn on the television on Halloween or anywhere near it, you are bound to find this television special somewhere. It is a Charlie Brown special that originally aired in 1966. It features Charlie Brown and friends who are getting ready to go trick-or-treating, while Linus spends the night in the pumpkin patch, because of a story about ‘The Great Pumpkin’.
Coraline
If your kids are around 9 or 10 or older, Coraline is a great Halloween movie. It is based on a novel by Neil Gaiman, who wrote a scary book meant for children and teens. Coraline is an animated movie that came out in 2009, with imagery similar to Nightmare Before Christmas. It features an alternative world that is much more dangerous than she was expecting.
Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie
For the younger kids, there is a Halloween-themed Winnie the Pooh movie called Pooh’s Heffalump Movie. This takes place in the Hundred Acre Wood where it is Halloween and Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and the rest of the gang go on their regular adventures. This is great if you have babies or younger children, since it can be something they are able to watch for Halloween while the older kids either watch it, or play Halloween games in another room.
Beetlejuice
This is an older movie, and not necessarily a Halloween movie, but it is definitely one that is fun to watch during this season. Beetlejuice came out in 1988 and is one of Tim Burton’s first iconic movies. While it is somewhat of an exorcist and ghost movie, it isn’t too frightening. Older children and teens do love this movie a lot, though you might want to take a peek before you let younger kids watch it.
The Addams Family
If your crew loved the popular TV show or if they’ve never been introduced, the film is a great way to get everyone familiar. Get drawn into the lives of the spooky Addams Family as they try to figure out if Fester is who he says he is.
The Dog Who Saved Halloween
Leave it to a dog of course to save the holiday! If your tribe is a dog-lover and you have pets running around the house they will love this film. Be sure to include your canine family member in the holiday festivities.

Scared Shrekless
Did you know the Shrek franchise included a Halloween themed film? Shrek and the crew are unlucky enough to have to spend the night in Lord Farquaad’s haunted castle and the ensuing chaos is hilarious. Your little ones will love Scared Shrekless.
Tower of Terror
A classic Disney film with a young Kirsten Dunst! Hotel guests checked into this spooky hotel but they never checked out! Now it’s your turn to find out what happened to them as the hotel is now in ruin and has turned into the Tower of Terror.
Halloweentown
What would you do if you found out Grandma is really a witch? That’s what happened in Halloweentown and you won’t wanna miss the plot twist!
Casper
How can you not love Casper the friendly ghost? It’s the classic love story perfect for little ones who will get caught up in the adventure. They’ll definitely want to help bring Casper back to life and may even want a Casper costume for Halloween!
